How to Find the Jeans That Actually Fit You

All the Cuts Are on the Menu: How to Find the Jeans That Actually Fit You

August 25, 20263 min read

Most women walk into a fitting room, pick up the size they’ve worn for years, and when it doesnt fit the way it used to, they decide something is wrong with them.

Nothing is wrong with you. The jean is wrong.

Every Cut Is on the Menu

Wide-leg. Straight. Barrel. Bootcut. Flare. Cropped, cuffed, high-rise, trouser-style.

Look at what designers are showing for the new season. It's all of it, at once. Not one silhouette crowned and the rest sent home.

So hear me: there is no cut you’re disqualified from. No age at which the flare gets taken away. No body type that “cant wear” wide-leg. That’s not a rule. That’s a rumor.

Wear the style you genuinely love. That's the only trend that matters.

But Know Your Body Before You Buy

Loving a jean isn’t enough. It has to fit you.

Look at your body first. Your proportions, where your waist actually sits, how long your leg reads. Then let that guide the cut.

The rise is the piece nobody teaches us, and it changes everything. It decides where your waist appears, and that sets the line of your whole body. Higher rise lengthens the leg. Lower rise shortens it.

Same body, same size, completely different woman in the mirror.

Then check the waistband. No gapping, no digging, no tugging. And the hem: decide where it lands on purpose.

The number on the tag means nothing. Sizing is inconsistent brand to brand. Cut it out if it bothers you.

Why I Rent Before I Buy

Those jeans I’m wearing in my kitchen? I rented them first.

I wore them in my real life. Sitting down, in the car, through a whole day. And then I bought them. By the time I

paid for them, I already knew they were mine.

That’s what Rent the Runway does for me. It takes the penalty out of being curious. You think you might like a barrel-leg jean, but you’ve never worn one, so you either talk yourself out of it or spend real money on a risk that hangs in your closet with the tags on. Do that a few times and you stop reaching for anything new at all.

Rent it. Live in it. Then buy it, knowing.

And in Menopause, This Matters Even More

Your body shifts in this season. Sometimes month to month. The jeans that were perfect last spring can feel like a

strangers this spring.

That is not a failure. But too many of us respond by shutting down. Same two forgiving things on repeat. No more

shopping. No more showing up.

Renting lets you dress the body you have right now, without buying a whole new closet every time something Changes.

You dont get to put your style on hold while your body figures itself out.

This Is Your Season

Find the cut you love. Check the fit before the tag. Rent it before you commit to it.

This is your reaping season. Wear it like you know it.

With Love,

— Yo
