Faux Leather, Real Style: Chic & Timeless Looks for Women 40+

Faux leather in the fall? Fabulous. It’s one of my absolute favorite things to wear and pack! It travels beautifully, looks luxe, and designers have elevated the quality so much that it’s nearly indistinguishable from the real thing.

This season, I’m especially loving rich, warm tones like chocolate brown, deep burgundy, wine, and forest or olive green. These colors not only scream “autumn chic” but also pair effortlessly with other textures, think cozy knits, crisp cotton shirts, or classic denim. A pair of faux leather pants instantly transforms an outfit from everyday casual to upscale casual (my favorite kind of style).

A faux leather skirt can turn even the simplest top into a polished, pulled-together outfit - perfect for fall, winter, and even early spring. Its versatility makes it a must-have in both your travel wardrobe and everyday rotation.

And let’s talk longevity. If you own vintage or real leather, hold on to it. Leather ages beautifully and can always be revived. I once ripped a beloved leather skirt (yes, I’m tough on my clothes!), and my tailor worked pure magic, you’d never know it was damaged. A skilled tailor can breathe new life into both real and faux leather.

So this season, fall for faux. It’s stylish, sustainable, and effortlessly chic, the perfect way to simplify your getting-dressed routine while looking like you’ve got it all together.

3 Ways to Wear Faux Leather This Fall

Fall outfit

Upscale Casual: Pair faux leather joggers with a white button-down and gold hoops. Add sneakers for errands or block-heel booties for brunch.

Fall Lady Boss Energy

Work-Ready: A tailored faux leather skirt + silk blouse + structured blazer = instant boss energy.

Faux leather

Weekend Luxe: Layer a forest green faux leather shacket over a fitted turtleneck and straight-leg jeans. Finish with a bold lip for a polished pop.

Yo’s Travel Tip:

Faux leather packs like a dream. It doesn’t wrinkle easily, wipes clean, and transitions seamlessly from day to night. I always roll my faux leather leggings and tuck them into a packing cube, they’re my “in case of fabulous” item!

Shop Your Closet First:

Before buying something new, take a peek inside your closet. That vintage jacket or old leather skirt might be ready for a revival. With a little tailoring or some creative accessorizing, your old favorites can feel brand new again.
